* All students at Cologne University of Applied Sciences must have health insurance. Please make sure that your insurance from home will cover you while in Germany. If you come from an EU country, or Norway, Liechtenstein or Switzerland, you can apply for the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). If you do not have coverage from home, you must purchase German health insurance.

Erasmus Students
Erasmus students are required to fill out and have signed several forms for their home university (e.g., Confirmation of Departure, Learning Agreement). They can get the signature of the departmental coordinator at their institute. They can get the signature of the institutional coordinator at the International Office, Claudiusstr. 1, Room A1.55.

German Courses for Exchange Students
Use your stay at Cologne University of Applied Sciences to improve your German! The International Office has many German courses on offer.

Semester Events
The International Office organizes many events during the semester for exchange students. See the schedule in our semester bulletin (in German).

Karibu
The Karibu programme matches new students in Cologne with "buddies". Buddies are there to answer questions, show you around, and help you settle in.

Tandem
Tandem is a method of learning where two people with different native languages come together to speak in an informal atmosphere. For foreign students, tandems are a good way to expand German ability and get to know the city and the mindset of its people. For German students, tandems are a chance to acquire and perfect authentic foreign language skills.
